Is Williamson Christian College accredited?

Yes! Williamson Christian College is authorized for operation by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC). Authorization is not an endorsement. Williamson Christian College has met the requirements of the law (Sections 49-7-2001, et. Seq., Tennessee Code Annotated) and has authorization to operate as a Postsecondary Institution in accordance with the Tennessee Postsecondary Education Act and Rules established by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission for institutions and their agents. This authorization must be renewed each year and is based on an evaluation by minimum standards concerning quality of education, ethical business practices, health and safety, and fiscal responsibility. This authorization is for the granting of the B.S. degree in three majors and the Associate degree.

The College is approved for receiving Veteran’s Educational Benefits by the state approving agency. Questions should be referred to Mr. Tom Morrison at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC). The phone number is 615/741-3605.

Williamson Christian College is accredited by TRACS (Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools) for the granting of the Associates and Bachelor’s degree. Accreditation was effective March 20, 2002. TRACS is located at P.O. Box 328, 15935 Forest Road, Forest, VA 24551. Their phone number is 804/525-9539 and their fax number is 804/525-9538.

TRACS is a national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Office of Education. Accreditation with TRACS allows the College to offer federal grants and loans.

Effective fall of 2002, students are eligible for federal grants and loans. We also offer a payment program.

How long does it take to finish my degree through Williamson Christian College?

Will all of my previous credits transfer into Williamson Christian College?

Transferability of credits depends heavily on the institution that the credits are being transferred from. Accreditation and reputation help determine the decision. However, these areas are not sole deciding factors. Please feel free to contact the College for further information.

If I take classes through WCC will those credits transfer to other colleges?

Williamson Christian College cannot guarantee any credit transfer. The transferring of credits is solely up to the institution it is being transferred to.

What are the purposes of the College?

There are eleven stated purposes of the College which cover the following topics: spiritual, intellectual, social, family, church, cultural, civic, vocational/professional, physical, goals and priorities, and attitudes. These eleven purposes can be found in the catalog.

Who is the College affiliated with?

Williamson Christian College is not affiliated with one religious group. We have developed relationships with several groups but are not governed by any.

Who is behind Williamson Christian College?

Williamson Christian College was started by the founders of Oosting and Associates, Dr. and Mrs. Oosting. Oosting and Associates consult colleges and set up degree completion programs. What student activities do you offer?

Williamson Christian College is not a traditional college and focuses on adult students with other responsibilities. Therefore, our activities are not similar to traditional colleges. For more information visit the Student Services page.

Where do I get my books and materials for class?

Books may be purchased online at MBS Books.

What is the curriculum like?

The curriculum for on-site courses at Williamson Christian College is set up on a five-week schedule. Students attend class one night a week for four hours each week. After five weeks you have completed one course. You only take one course at a time. There are no memory exams. Homework is due each night of class (including the first) and a Take Home Final is due one week after the last class session of that particular course. When is the library and computer lab open?

The John W. Neth, Jr. Library and the computer lab hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Library is also open when classes are being held.

Does Williamson Christian College have dorms and a cafeteria?

Williamson Christian College focuses on adult students who are already established in a job and home life. Therefore, WCC does not have dorms or a cafeteria.

How is the College governed?

Williamson Christian College is a not-for-profit organization that is governed by a Board of Trustees. This Board is made up of local residents who make major decisions for the College. The day-to-day functions are carried out by the administration of the College.

What kind of hardware and software do I need to take an online course?

To take an online course from Williamson Christian College you will need a computer and internet access. Once you are admitted and then registered, you will be e-mailed a username, password and web address in order to access your course.
