From the Committee. . .
For the first time in its history, Williamson Christian College, located in Franklin, TN, is looking for a president to replace the current and founding president, Dr. Kenneth Oosting. Williamson Christian College was created from the vision and foresight of Dr. Oosting in 1997, and now over 10 years later, Dr. Oosting desires to retire and to pass the baton of leadership on to the next president. Under Dr. Oosting's leadership, Williamson Christian College has grown to offer three degree programs while enjoying accreditation from two accrediting bodies: the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE).
The coursework and efforts of the College are focused on transforming lives, developing leaders and changing the world. Concentrating on teaching students from a Christian worldview, the students see their lives transformed as they learn how to apply this perspective in their career endeavors. In fulfilling its mission, WCC has relied upon and leveraged the non-traditional approach for delivering its educational programs, as well as, attracting its students. Classes at WCC currently meet at two locations with most of the classes offered either in the evening or on Saturdays.
The typical WCC student is currently in the workplace and is seeking to earn a degree while managing a career and family. In fact, the average age for a student at WCC is approximately 35 years old. Tremendous success has been gained through this non-traditional style of college life, and the college has grown to just under 100 students at present.
The new president will need to provide strong leadership, bold vision and confident resolve in leading WCC through the challenges it faces in its continuing development as an institution of Christian higher learning. The challenges range from developing consistent financial support to branding the College in the community to developing new ways to deliver its educational programs and broaden its course offerings. In addition, The College is working towards its regional accreditation, and the new president will be instrumental in this process.
Many skills are needed in order to lead The College effectively into the future. Clearly, our new president must possess an authentic and growing faith in Jesus Christ. A doctorate and prior leadership experience in Christian Higher Education are highly desirable. Our next leader will be able to not only cast the college's vision but will be able to effectively communicate that vision to key constituencies surrounding the institution. If you desire a challenge and are looking to utilize your entrepreneurial strengths, then email your resume to wccresumes@williamsoncc.edu.
